Abstract Urbanism

The new series Abstract Urbanism consists of maps generated by a genetic algorithm that, following instructions set by Ultravioletto, open the doors to new interpretations of urban planning.
Like the growth of a crystal that follows apparently simple and orderly rules, the algorithm created by Ultravioletto throws seeds onto the field, which grow and evolve following pre-established rules but which take on an unexpected and unique evolution. The machine, traces lines on a white sheet of paper whose direction, length and position are suggested by the algorithm. It’s the presence of the machine that unveils the performative nature of “Abstract Urbanism”; it is not the print or the NFT connected to it that is the subject of the work but the process that led to it.
