Glow Shenzhen is one of the most important Light Festival in China. Two new light and interactive installations was created specially for the 2021 edition. The two artworks are commissioned and produced by our partner of Output agency (all the footage is under their copyright).
Chasing Gold is an artwork inspired by the ancient mechanical carousel. The installation is the results of experimentations with lights and iridescent materials. During the day, the sunlight at different times refracts the dichroic film, and the light and shadow produced by the sunlight diverge in different directions due to changes in the angle of the sunlight. When a pedestrian passes, the sensor in the installation is triggered to light up the panels and create a magical world with its rainbow reflections.
From the concept, through the prototype to the exhibition
Casting Dreams is an artwork that reminds That sense of wonder surrounding the first experiences in our world. And for sure the air balloon is one of those. It reminds our childhood and the feelings that everything is lighter and colorful. The installation is a a shape shifting sculpture that lives during the day constantly mutating its behavior and its relationship with its surroundings. Light and shadow of the balloons are scattered in the covered bridge, one end is Upper Hills, and the other end is the peak of Lianhua Mountain. During the day, the sunlight at different hours of the day refracts the colored plexiglass, and the light and shadow produced by the sunlight diverge in different directions due to changes in the angle of the sunlight. When a pedestrian passes through each balloon, the sensor in the installation is triggered to light up the LED lights on the outline of the balloon.
