The Norwegian Maritime Museum (NMM) in Oslo has undergone a significant transformation, evolving into a cutting-edge, experiential museum that brings Norway’s rich maritime history to life. As a national institution, the NMM is committed to the collection, research, and dissemination of Norwegian maritime cultural heritage, and this new concept museum reflects that commitment through a wide range of immersive installations and interactive exhibits.
Visitors are invited to engage with the museum’s collections through innovative edutainment activities, powered by custom-developed software and advanced motion and hand tracking technologies, such as Microsoft Kinect and Leap Motion. The museum’s operational efficiency and visitor experience are further enhanced by a sophisticated Open Control System (OCS), which allows museum management to remotely monitor, control, and schedule all interactive installations. This integrated system ensures that the museum’s exhibits are consistently engaging and accessible, providing a dynamic and informative experience for all visitors.
