FILE LED Show in São Paulo, Brazil

Particles that explore natural intelligence and its connection to technology

The FILE – International Electronic Language Festival is a prestigious international art and technology exhibition held in São Paulo, Brazil. Considered the largest electronic art event in Latin America, the festival showcases artworks created with new technologies, making them accessible to a wider audience. In the LED SHOW category, the festival stimulates the production of art in new media, providing a unique opportunity to access innovative technologies and resources. This is exemplified by the Micrômacro project, a collection of independent videos exploring the relationship between the whole and the part, separation and union. Its synopsis questions the distinction between “we” and “I” and where the boundary lies between what unites and what separates. The work is the result of this division, a “significant unit of contrast” that is present everywhere, exploring interconnection on both a micro and macro level.

The Mycelium — Natural Intelligence project, created by Ultravioletto, has been selected to be part of the LED SHOW. This installation is being held on the Fiesp Building in São Paulo from July 6th to September 6th, 2025. Mycelium focuses on a complementary concept: intelligence is often viewed as an exclusively human trait, with technology as its product. This anthropocentric view excludes much of the natural world from the idea of progress. The work explores the idea that intelligence can be a distributed process that solves problems through connections. Fungi, which optimize food and communication networks through mycelium, offer a model for us to rethink our relationship with nature and cities. Ultravioletto explores this concept in a video generated by algorithms.
