Sant’Agnese

Artistic Lighting Project

Celebrating the beauty with a special projection mapping

Anew light will shine upon a historical and artistic jewel in the heart of Piazza Navona, in Rome: the recently restored Sant’Agnese in Agone Crypt, after almost twenty centuries, is in fact now at the very centre of a new artistic lighting and architectural project donated by the Webuild Group.

For the inauguration event, the musical notes of Vivaldi and Händel resonated within the Sant’Agnese in Agone Church and throughout the entire Piazza Navona in Rome during the concert of the Accademia Barocca di Santa Cecilia, conducted by Maestro and solo violinist Boris Begelman.

Ultravioletto conceived and developed the video direction and production for the projection mapping to broadcast the concert in real-time on the church’s facade. In addition to the live streaming, visual effects were created that played with the architectural perspectives and reacted in harmony with the music. To achieve maximum freedom and control over the video output, all animated graphic effects were generated in real-time and controlled via gamepad.
